It's a short update for today.
Did you know that as of Tuesday 18th July, Facebook support for modifying link previews will be deprecated?
In a nutshell, this means when someone shares your page on the Facebook network, it'll look for some default values based on your page meta information.
We'd like to think so!
Hating to quote President Trump here (we will anyway), but Facebook's decision will help to eliminate the concern of "Fake News".
They'll achieve this by forcing the use of the preview title, text and image from the Open Graph tag values on your web page.
As a company that promotes the distribution of great and relevant content, we're absolutely behind the change. Producing relevant and engaging content is at the heart of great SEO, and a great web experience for you and your customers.
Well, for Sites Done Right customers, things will continue as expected. Our platform gives you control over your Open Graph information, so you can at least manage how you expect your Facebook link previews to display and get consistency anytime your web page is shared.
If you don't have control over your SEO social settings or are unsure of what Open Graph is, you may want to test your own webpage(s) using our quick form below.
Check if your webpage has Open Graph tags set up, and what'll be shown in any Facebook preview links moving forward.
We'd love to hear what you think about Facebook's latest change and how this has impacted your business workflow.
Reach out in the comments section below, we'd love to talk.
