  • Why Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) matters

Did you see that latest clip? Got the most recent innovative technology?

If you answered "no", the likelihood is you'll be feeling sligthtly disconnected and out of the loop.

FOMO speaks to the heart of human psychology - we want to be aligned with what our peers are reading, viewing, consuming and purchasing.

Getting this right as part of your online marketing mix can be a challenge. Especially for SMEs and Startups, showcasing your ability to deliver and the successes you achieve can seem very self serving and actually deter custom.

You can achieve this in very subtle and discrete ways - for example by making use of case studies and testimonials as part of your web content strategy.

At Sites Done Right, we try to keep our customers ahead of the curve when it comes to effective marketing strategy and, as such, we are excited to announce the launch of our social proof tool in our platform provided as standard to all our existing (and future) customers.

  • How it works

Simply log in to your Sites Done Right dashboard, and visit Social > Social Proof Items.

Here, you'll see a list of any social proof items you've already created, or you can add new items on the fly.

Each item you add has space for a client name (open text) - you can include the full client name, a company name, just a surname or whatever you'd like.

You can also include a thumbnail image to really help sell the story of success you've achieved.

Then, include the date of when the action took place. This is used by our system to organise your social proof into date order.

We offer a range of social proof types (with more on the way) including subscriptions, purchased products/services and a custom option for you to include text of any sort.

Paid subscriptions are especially useful in our system. You can specify the subscription frequency i.e. Monthly or Annually and this will create events for every period automatically from the start date until now.

    Dynamic Dates

Based on the date you completed the work/the client signed up or the value you've input, our platform will automatically show the period this was done from the current moment in time (i.e. right now, 5 minutes ago, 1 month ago etc).

    How it works
  • New Feature – FOMO Row 4 image
    Examples of FOMO in practice
    • Show latest subscriptions to your retainer based services/products
    • Show recent form entries (requests for quotes etc)
    • Highlight people who have signed up to digital offerings
    • Mention up-to-date projects completed
  • In Closing

Do you have an approach for building social proof as part your ongoing marketing strategy? Have you used the FOMO method to generate positive enquiries for work? We'd love to hear what's worked well for you - and what hasn't!

We'll be adding improvements to this feature as part of our ongoing roadmap, including options to choose specific pages to show your social proof on.

As always, leave your suggestions and feedback in the comments section below. We regularly update our posts to reflect the positive input of our community of blog readers.
